What is the weather policy?
If sand is saturated or winds are dangerous, AY Social Sports will relocate or reschedule to ensure total athlete safety.
Can I sign up on my own?
Yes! All solo players are welcome to join. During the welcome week you can find a team or we will place you with one in the same division. If you meet players you’d like to team up with, you can request to play together.
I don't have a full team but can I sign up with friends?
Yes! You can sign up with as many friends as you want and we will assign other players to join you to form a full team. During the welcome week you can also find fellow players to join in with you.Â
How can we find subs if we cannot make a game?
We will have a WhatsApp group with everyone in the league, this will be a great way to find subs if needed. Subs must be within your division or from a lower division. Playoffs no subs are allowed.
What happens if my teams needs to forfeit a match?
For 4v4 you need a minimum of 3 players with 1 female playing to note forfeit.
However, if less than the above a forfeit will be marked as a loss for your record.
What are the team requirements for the league?
For 4v4 you need a minimum of 5 players on your team with 1 female playing at all times.Â
What is the welcome week for?
This is where you will meet your fellow players, get your free boba for registering, and play for fun during open play. This can be a great way to find subs or form a full team if needed or just to socialize in our volleyboba community.
Where do we play & is parking available?
The games are located in Sorrento Beach in Santa Monica. This will be next to LOT 8 where paid parking is available. However please account for limited parking and plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to your game time to find parking there or at another lot.
Are we able to play pickup games after?
Yes! If there are available courts pickup games are encouraged for league bonding and to socialize with your fellow league members!
Game time & scoring?
Each game is slotted for 1 hour matchups, with games held at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm. Games will start on time with a 5 minute grace period. Please account for parking and arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your game. The first two sets are played to 21 points, while a decisive third set, is played to 15 points. To win any set, a team must win by at least a 2-point margin with a cap to 25.

Discounted boba orders?
Every week except (welcome week) discounted boba will be available to order. This will be done on our Whatsapp group chat by the Friday prior to each game. Flavor options will be announced during the season.
